Create a DOCX document using JavaScript

With our REST API, JavaScript developers can easily create DOCX documents. To make a file in DOCX document format, you need to perform a few steps using our Node Cloud SDK:

  1. Set file name
  2. Call the 'CreateDocument' method to create a DOCX document in JavaScript
  3. Save the output DOCX file

Since an empty DOCX document is supposed to formally contain one paragraph, when you programmatically create a DOCX file, you will get just such a basic structure.

Note that it is possible to add content to a newly created DOCX document instantly. Thus, you will get not just an empty DOCX file, but a document that contains the required content. For more information on how to modify a DOCX document, see the 'Edit DOCX Document' page.

Create DOCX documents in JavaScript

As already mentioned, our Node Cloud SDK allows you to programmatically create DOCX documents. You can try our powerful functionality and evaluate how to create a DOCX file using the following JavaScript example:

Select the target format from the list
Run code
import * as fs from "fs";

const wordsApi = new WordsApi("####-####-####-####-####", "##################");
const fileName = "Output.docx";

const createDocumentRequest = new model.CreateDocumentRequest({
    fileName: fileName
});

wordsApi.createDocument(createDocumentRequest)
.then((createDocumentRequestResult) => {
    console.log("Result of CreateDocumentRequest: ", createDocumentRequestResult);
    const downloadDocumentRequest = new model.DownloadFileRequest({
        path: fileName
    });

    wordsApi.downloadFile(downloadDocumentRequest)
    .then((downloadDocumentRequestResult) => {
        console.log("Result of DownloadDocumentRequest: ", downloadDocumentRequestResult);
    });
});
